Benefit Air Patrol

Before I started blogging, I was very bemused by high end beauty brands. I couldn’t understand why someone would pay four times more for a product that was surely the same as a high street one – it all seemed a bit of a con to me. Fast forward nearly two years later and, although I do still use high street brands like Sleek and Maybelline, high street brands are slowly taking over my makeup bag. There are some products out there which aren’t worth splashing out on, especially when budget brands do a good job most of the time, but I definitely think splashing out is worth it on some products.

Benefit was the first high end brand I tried, and since then I’ve accumulated quite a few of their products. My latest, which I won in their Twitter giveaway, is their new Air Patrol Eye Primer. My pre-blogging self would have scoffed at the fact that eyes need a separate primer. I know better now, especially as I have hooded lids which is perfect for rubbing off eyeliner and eyeshadow so my time and effort goes to waste.

I’ve only ever tried Makeup Revolution eye primer before, and I found it pretty unimpressive. In comparison, Air Patrol is amazing – the amount of times I’ve been out, got home way too drunk to take off my makeup and woke up with perfect smokey eyes or winged eyeliner is unreal. And also gross but let’s not pretend you haven’t been there!

The only thing I’m not a fan of is the actual lid. It’s a bit too clunky for me, and not as girly as some of Benefit’s other products. I’ve never been one too really care about outside appearances of makeup so it’s not a deal breaker, especially as the product itself is so good! It’s a similar colour to a concealer, but with a slightly thinner consistency. You can apply it using the squishy applicator, but I prefer to use my finger as it rubs in better. I use it on my eyelids up to the brow bone, and underneath my eyes as this stops my concealer creasing. It feels like a second skin; no dryness, no stickiness, and it helps eye shadow apply smoother. I can’t say I’ve personally noticed that the colour is more intense using this primer, but the fact it can easily last 24 hours, smudge and wear free, on hooded eyes means it’s definitely worth splashing out for me!

You can get Benefit Air Patrol here for £21.50.
