It’s not rocket science what we want from a mascara. Long, thick, sexy eyelashes that aren’t clumpy and last all day. How hard can it be!?
Well, apparently really hard considering I’ve never found one that I’ve been loyal to. They’ve always been just ‘okay’. Good enough for average day to day lashes, but nothing show stopping that makes me feel like my eyelashes are special. I refuse to believe my eyelashes are THAT bad that no mascara can make them look amazing? Anyway, I picked up the Urban Decay Perversion mascara with the deluxe sample of Subversion primer at work and had quite high hopes for it, what with everyone under the sun loving Urban Decay.
I didn’t even know eyelash primers existed if I’m honest. I used to use talcum powder on my eyelashes before mascara to give them a bit of oomph to hold on to, and from the description Urban Decay give, Subversion has a similar concept. It’s feels completely different to mascara, it’s much more creamy and light, and apparently has vitamin E in to condition your lashes. I wasn’t sure whether to let it dry before using the mascara but I decided against it. It genuinely does allow mascara to glide on without feeling like you need to force the wand right up into your lashes! The mascara sticks to it and completely covers the white formula, and you’re left with lashes that look a lot more impressive than if you’d just done one coat of mascara.
The Perversion mascara is amazing. It coats each eyelash easily, even without the primer. One layer and you have thick, lengthened and jet black eyelashes, and two layers gives you incredible volume, especially at the base of your lashes where you need it most. It also stays clump free no matter how many layers you use. It’s everything I’ve wanted in a mascara! The brush doesn’t leave mascara on your eyelids and is easy to manoeuvre, plus the mascara stays on all day without flaking off.
This has been a very gushy post hasn’t it, but honestly this is the best mascara I’ve ever tried. It’s not cheap in any way, but it’s cheaper than Benefit They’re Real and I actually think it’s so much better! Whilst I think the primer is good, I don’t think it’s necessary to buy as the mascara is so good.
