August on Instagram

I’ve (in my opinion) been really stepping up my Instagram game lately. It’s partly due to how bloody Instagrammable my two cats are, and partly because I’ve been putting in an effort to get it in top tip shape.

I was considering deleting my posts and restarting with a ‘themed account’ but decided it wasn’t me. Sometimes I want to just share pictures, even if they’re not totally perfect or glamorous or monochrome. Don’t get me wrong, I basically die a little inside over how stunning some people’s Instagram’s are, but I just wouldn’t be able to keep that up so I ain’t even trying.

I’ve posted a lot of snaps over August so thought I’d share a selection so you can see what I’ve been up to lately!

1 & 2: On Sunday, Scott and I drove up to Ripon in North Yorkshire to see the Druids Temples and explore the surrounding forestry. It was actually pretty cool, the temple was a big circular formation of rocks that looked like it had been made to be some kind of shrine. There were also random giant rock towers dotted around, and the forest itself looked like something fairies would live in. Very Ancient Aliens.

3: I finally feel like I’m becoming an adult, as I actually try and keep my room tidy now! Since moving in and having complete choice over my furniture, I’ve been in love with my Scandi style room and all it’s copper accents.

4: My friends and I have finally booked our weekend trip to Amsterdam in November, meaning I have three things to look forward to between now and next year. I downloaded a Countdown app so that I could remind myself of this when life is wearing me down.

5: I’m doing a giveaway to win a MAC lipstick of your choice, Benefit’s They’re Real Push Up Liner, and my friend Katie’s limited edition Big Ben print. It’s open until 23rd September so please enter!

6: I treated myself to a few Estee Lauder purchases on payday and got this free gift from House of Fraser as part of their promo.

7: I finally ventured back out into the Leeds nightlife after a long hibernation.

8: I was sent this stunning copper and marble jewelry box from House of Fraser which I just can’t get enough of. Copper accents are slowly taking over my whole house: I also bought a stunning copper clock this weekend to go in my living room which makes the whole room look much more tied together.

9: I helped to organise and host a blogger UV Bingo event for Ladbrokes a few weeks ago. It’s the first event I’ve ever done and, despite how scary it was not knowing if people would like it, I had so much fun and it was very much a success! Hopefully I’ll be doing more in the future.

10: Speaking of events, I recently attended one in Leeds for the release of Paul Mitchell’s new hair range. I talked about the event and reviewed the products here.

11: Aside from being way too adorable, both my cats have been keeping me entertained and the house insect free by killing (and eating) every fly that worms its way inside. It can be quite freaky to watch them race around if you don’t know why, but also amusing as they slip and slide over the wooden floors with their furry feet!

12 & 13: Me, Scott, our friend and her boyfriend went down to Dorset for a long weekend and explored the Jurassic Coast, as well as Studland’s famous sand dunes. No, it wasn’t the same as going away to a hot country but the weather did hold up and it was fun exploring the coast (and having numerous barbecues).

14: I spotted this pineapple Flamingo Candle in Joy month’s ago but didn’t get it, which I’d regretted ever since. I finally found it by chance and snapped it up for £12. It smells exactly like a pineapple, and looks adorable.

15: I bought a fake septum piercing so I can pretend to be edgy whenever I want. I actually really like it, although I won’t be getting it pierced any time soon!

16: Last but not least, I’ve been taking advantage of having a bath for the first time in ages by doing hair and face masks along side Lush bubble baths. Bliss.
