Teatoxing (Again!)

Fad diet things are my guilty pleasure. If I was a millionaire, I think I’d make a TV series exploring a new fad each week. Juice cleanses, teatoxes, boot camps… Anything you can pay for to help kick start weight loss, I want to try it. Not even necessarily for weight loss, it just gives me this unexplained thrill. I’ve tried teatoxes before (Bootea twice, Tiny Tea once) and despite never losing weight on them, I really like them. Bootea at least, I was not a fan of Tiny Tea as it tasted pretty grim and didn’t really do anything. Bootea cleared me out (I mean, really cleared me out) and I found myself a lot less bloated after doing it, hence why I did it again. I was contacted and asked if I wanted to try Slimming Solutions Teatox* and has I’d not done one in a while, I thought I’d give it a go.

If you’ve not heard of a teatox before, it’s a blend of herbal tea which aims to clear and detox your system so you feel more energised, get a metabolism boost and basically are more efficient at being alive. Slimming Solutions Teatox is a 14 or 28 day teatox with a day time and night time tea. I have to confess, I forgot to take photos of the packaging and tea bags before I started drinking them and then Scott (he makes the morning tea as he is my little helper) threw away the packaging before I realised! Eep. I’m not a huge fan of the packaging, I think they look a bit amateur but the ingredients are promising. The first ingredient in the day time tea is Chinese Oolong tea, which is consistently pointed at as THE tea for weight loss across the web. The day time tea is intended to kick start your metabolism and systems to clear you out for the day, and the night time tea (to be taken every other day) acts as a mild laxative to help clear the toxins from your body. In poo form. For some this might be unappealing but I know I’d rather have it all out than in. I actually had a colonic irrigation a couple of years ago and it was the weirdest experience but I would 100% have one again if they weren’t so expensive. FYI, teatoxes are basically like a mild version for a quarter of the cost so worth doing if you’re interested in it.

I really enjoyed the taste of both these teas. I’m a green tea drinker so that probably has something to do with me enjoying it, but really the taste is so mild I don’t think it would offend anyone. Remembering to drink it first thing in the morning did not turn out well for me, so my morning blend was normally consumed with lunch. I did manage to have the evening blend on time, although at one point I was literally gulping down a cup before brushing my teeth and getting into bed.

I tried the 14 day version of the teatox, and in that time I did feel less bloated than usual. I also had slightly more energy and was slightly less hungry than when I wasn’t on the teatox, but the effects weren’t enough for me to go around hailing it as a miracle. Not that I expected it to be a miracle mind, I basically see teatoxes as a great way of resetting my system – which it did perfectly. I’ll be honest and a little crude, whilst I did not find the laxative effect of the teatox intense or bad for most of the two weeks, there was a moment during a run I was glad I was at the gym and not out on the road. If you run regularly, you’ve probably realised it stimulates your bowels anyway (again, sorry to be crude) but teamed with a Teatox? Let’s just say it intensifies. *poo emoji*

I would recommend Slimming Solutions as I really like teatoxes anyway, and it definitely does the job of clearing out your system, de-bloating and energising. No, you won’t become super skinny overnight but if you stop thinking about them for weight loss, and more as a wellness boost, it’ll hit your expectations.
