There are many things about Australian life that I want. The sun, beaches, barbeques, the insanely hot bodies they all seem to have, the thousands of Instagram followers due to said hot bodies… Body care isn’t necessarily something I’d say I was particularly envious of, but I was excited to try out the Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil Skin Wash* and Exfoliating Body Wash* anyway as I figured if it can keep the Aussie’s clean and fresh in their ridiculous heat, it can keep me clean and fresh in freezing cold Leeds. I’ve been a fan of tea tree oil since I was 16 and discovered that putting it on spots overnight could help reduce them, and I’ve played with using it in hair and skincare since thanks to its antifungal and microbal properties.
The Skin Wash is a gentle antiseptic wash which contains 2% tea tree oil to help combat spots and odour inducing bacteria, without drying the skin I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks now and as far as body washes go, it’s pretty good. Good lather, nice clean scent. It’s got a good balance between making you feel squeaky clean, without drying your skin out. I run (aka sweat) a lot so pretty Imperial Pearl moisturising shower gels are not strong enough for my liking, but some shower gels that leave you feeling super clean also leave you feeling dry and stripped of moisture. This leaves my skin clean and fresh, without being dry or needing to moisturise.
The Exfoliating Body Wash is an interesting one. Formula wise, this is a great scrub. It’s not gritty in a painful way, but you can definitely feel it exfoliating your skin. The backs of my legs get blocked follicles quite easily and I’ve found this scrub does help, probably due to both the tea tree and the exfoliation, but I’m just not keen on the smell. It’s perfume free, which is great for sensitive skin, but it reminds me of my guinea pigs I used to have. I’m not sure if it smells of hay, or overall guinea pig, but it kind of weirds me out a bit. The smell only lasts as long as the scrub is on your body, so you don’t have to worry about smelling of small animals all day but it is an usual one.
To buy, the Skin Wash is £12.99 and the Exfoliating Wash is £11.99. Honestly? I don’t think I’d buy these when I can get a zingy Original Source for £2, but they’re probably an investment if you have trouble skin (bacne, BO, infected follicles etc) as the tea tree oil and the fact they’re pH friendly means they’ll help combat skin problems without drying you out.
