If you are anything above cup size DD, buying a new bra is a nightmare. Having been on the wrong size of D since about 17, I quickly discovered that brands like Freya and Panache are a rarity for bigger bra sizes, as they are not only supportive but can actually look nice! Stockists can be extremely rare – you either have Bravissimo or the internet, so when I was contacted by the lovely Bethanie from House of Fraser about reviewing some lingerie, I was extremely cynical about whether lingerie would exist in my size on their site. It’s safe to say I was extremely surprised, but happy, to find that there is a whole world of Freya, Panache and bigger bra brands on their website!
There is actually a special DD+ section in the House of Fraser lingerie category, which contains loads of different popular brands, from old trusted ones like Freya and Curvy Kate, through to Wonderbra (for bigger sizes!) to the more novel brands like Elle Macpherson Intimates. I was genuinely surprised that there are that many brands out there that aim to contain. Maybe because having big boobs isn’t something that I’m happy about, so I’ve never really explored the world of lingerie available to me, but there are some truly gorgeous bras in House of Fraser that are aimed for DD+.
I picked a very cute, matching Panache set* to review. Bras in my size can be really expensive, there is no nipping to Primark for a cute, playful number, and it’s rare I buy a new bra because I fancy one, let alone treat myself to matching underwear! I chose non-padded, which can seem weird if you’re a small boobed gal but trust me, I have enough padding of my own. Although there was loads of brands I could choose from, I know my size with Panache and I trust the quality of the brand.
As much as I loved getting my new lingerie, I’m actually more happy that I have found somewhere new that stocks bras in my size. It can be quite embarrassing having to go to a specialist bra shop, I know Bravissimo is a great shop and I am so thankful for the ladies there as their fitting service is amazing, but the fact I can now buy underwear from a department store that simultaneously sells A cups is really exciting for me! From what I’ve seen, the bras are no more expensive in House of Fraser than any other stockists, so I don’t see any downfall to ordering from there rather than another online retailer. One day, I might branch out and try a different bra brand but I can’t promise anything, it will be a while before I treat myself to a new one anyway!
*I was sent these for the purpose of review, however all thoughts are my own.
I love Panache! I’m a 34G and it’s a nightmare to find bras that are supportive but fun/pretty too.
I know it is such a pain isn’t it! I think brands are becoming a lot more aware of the fact we also need pretty bras though
