Garnier Moisture Match / Shine Be Gone

I am finally acne free woo! Which means I no longer use Quinoderm (see review here) on  daily basis, which is turn has the knockout effect that my skin isn’t a dry, flaky mess. While I was on Quinoderm, I was using E45 cream as a moisturiser because it was the only thing that remotely helped with my sore, dry skin, but now I’m not using it my skin has returned to its natural combination state, and I was left with a moisturiser that is way too heavy to use on a weekly basis, let alone a daily one!

If you read my Nation of Shopkeepers post (here) you’ll know that the boyfriend treated me to a couple of things from Superdrug, one being Garnier Moisture Match for combination to oily skin. It has the promise of 24 hours hydration, but with a mattifying effect. It also contains no parabens. I actually don’t know what parabens are but they pop up so often that I am going to make it a mission of mine to become a paraben expert (or at least know a bit about them). I like Garnier moisturisers and it was under a fiver so I was pretty happy for the boyfriend to part his cash for it (heh heh).

The box is nice and simple, very serene. Like, if you were a sucker for advertising (which I am) you’d be like ‘ooh this will really calm down my skin’. The actual product is in a light mint plasticcy tube. Not as impressive as the box but you can’t have your cake and eat it too, especially for £2.99! The moisturiser doesn’t really have a scent of anything other than moisturiser and fresh air (I bet there is a Yankee candle with that exact description!). It’s buttery soft and a little goes a long way, I only used a fingertip and it did my whole face.

I agree that the moisturiser is quick to absorb, it sinks in like a dream and leaves no residue. I’m not sure about the matte texture. I’d say it was more dewy than matte, as there is still a little sheen on my T-zone. Overall, for £2.99 it’s a pretty good moisturiser. I don’t think it’s suitable for oily skin even though it says so, maybe normal to combination skin. I can see it being a really good base for makeup, as my skin is moisturised, soft and dewy.

What’s your favourite moisturiser?

I have a sample of this but I’m still yet to try it! Perhaps my skin is too oily though
