Weight Loss Wednesdays

I’ve seen this post around a few times and thought I’d get involved! I am the dreaded apple body shape, which basically means that no matter what weight I am, I will always have child like stick legs and a pot belly. Attractive, I think not. I’m at a pretty healthy weight right now but I am going to Mexico in May and I have this dream of having a flat belly for once in my life. It’s going to be hard work because my body is super stubborn when losing the last 5-10lbs (aka it’s never happened) but I am determined to give it my best shot!

Throughout my teen life, I’ve tried every diet going. The Atkins, the 5:2, the juice diet, fasting, eating clean… But I’ve found for me, eating healthy, cutting calories and exercising, with the occasional cheat day is the only thing I can stick to without ending up on a massive binge.

I’ve actually lost two stone over the past year and a half, by cutting down on snacking and alcohol, eating more veg and going to the gym 3-5 times a week. I put on a few pounds over Christmas (I am only human!) but I tend to not let small fluctuations phase me anymore. Sometimes a girl has got to treat herself! But I am back on the bandwagon and plan on eating healthy, sticking to around 1500 calories a day, using myfitnesspal app to keep track of them, and gyming 3-5 times a week doing mainly resistance training, as I’ve found cardio and weight loss for me don’t go together very well.

The hardest thing I find about losing weight now is that I’m not actually unhappy with my weight. I’m not fat, I just have a few spare pounds, and that knowledge, the fact I’m so much slimmer than I used to be plus people telling me I’ve lost enough weight and don’t need to lose weight means it’s very easy for me to lose motivation. However, I’m sick of being not unhappy with my body: I want to be proud of it, not just complacent! I want to be able to feel my abs without prodding through some insulation first.

My starting weight is 8 stone 2, but I want to lose about 5-10 lbs of fat and then build up the equivalent weight in muscle, so my goal is not to lose weight but to purely lose fat and build muscle. I’m a size 8-10 with a spare tyre, I want to be a size 8 with a flat stomach :)

Thanks :) I didn’t intend on losing weight originally, I just cut down drinking (I drank a LOT during my first year at uni! Plus the compulsory drunk takeaway) and when I realised I’d lost a few pounds I cut calories and started exercising :) xx

Wait, what?! Your starting weight is lower than my goal weight, jealous! Haha! How tall are you?? My goal is to tone up in time for my honeymoon in April! :) xo

Haha! I’m 5’6 but I have a stupidly skinny frame! I’ve been doing so many weights to try bulk up my arms and legs but am yet to see results! I’d definitely recommend doing weights for toning up :) xx

Ah fair enough! Cool, good luck! Ah, thanks, I’m pretty certain I know what I’m going to do. I’ve done a lot of martial arts in the past and the Insanity workout etc, so going to combine a few different things! :) I toned up for our wedding, ate what I wanted/didn’t exercise much, now doing it again for the honeymoon xo
