If you saw my post on disappointing orange lipsticks, you might know that I am officially the owner of my first ever MAC product! MAC amplified creme lipstick in Morange. I saw Michelle from Thou Shalt Not Covet do a post on it agess ago and I was genuinely a little bit stunned by how beautiful the shade was. Plus I love orange lipsticks in the summer, especially when I have a bit of a tan! It was actually a birthday present off my boyfriend, but the kind of present where I picked it and he just paid. Bless him.
I was surprised by how light the lipstick was. It sounds silly but you can always tell the quality of say, a watch, by its weight so I just expected this to be really heavy! The case is a very simple design, standard to MAC, and has tiny little shimmery specks in, so it looks like black granite. The lipstick itself is he definition of what an orange lipstick should be. It’s not a coral or red orange, it’s a bright, vibrant orangey orange. It’s almost neon, it’s that bright. It is truly stunning.
The lipstick is super pigmented, and it only takes one or two layers to transfer the colour over to your lips. It’s moisturisng, but it kind of sits on top of the lip rather than sinking in so I found the best way to apply it is (after a lip scrub and balm) to apply, blot with tissue and reapply again. This stops it from looking weirdly glossy and separate from the lips, if that makes sense.
In terms of longevity, it lasts around four hours but if you’re drinking (which let’s face it, is probably the only time I will ever feel brave enough to carry off such a strong colour) you will probably need to top up every couple of hours – I’ve only worn it a few times but I have noticed that it disappears from the edges and corners of my lips a lot quicker than it does overall. I have some really poor pigmented orange lipsticks, so I’ve been taking these with me and using these to blend in any edges that were wearing off to lengthen the time between applications.
Overall, I do love the colour of this lipstick but I think maybe the formula could have a few improvements, just because it sits a bit funny on the lips and disappears unevenly. However, for such knock out colour I don’ really find that too much of an issue.
Pros:
Amazing colour
Lasts a decent time
Cons:
A little bit too crème, so sits funny
Disappears unevenly
