I really want to be that girl who can pull off deep, poppy red lipstick, so feeling brave I decided to buy Kate Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in shade 110 from Feel Unique (see my Feel Unique Haul). I didn’t want to waste a lot of money on a lipstick that I might hate, and everyone who owns a Kate lipstick is really happy with the quality so I figured it was a good first purchase. I wanted to get the £1 MUA academy matte lipstick but it is never bloody in stock!
I thought this would be quite a deep red but actually it is more of a coral toned red. I was surprised but not unhappy: coral tones suit me, especially when I am blonde which will hopefully be soon, so it is a lot more wearable than a poppy red. I’ll just wait until the MUA one come in stock to try my hand at a real red!
Although the colour doesn’t look very pigmented on my hand, it comes out really deep on my lips in just one application. It is really matte: I was worried that this would just stick to any dry skin and highlight it, but it didn’t. I did have to do two coats to get in any crevices (why is it that, no matter how much lip scrub and balm you use, dry lips just pop up all the time?) but afterwards my lips were smoothy smooth. It actually made my lips much more plump as well!
I wore this out for my friend’s birthday and what was so in love with it. The combination of colour and matte just looked gorgeous and really made my lips pop.
Overall, I’m happy with this lipstick. I would say, if you want a particular colour, go and try them in the shop so you’re not surprised when it turns out to be different to what you expect, but in my case it has worked out well
