After having such success with Nip + Fab Glycolic Pads, I thought I’d try out some of the other products in the range and see how they fared up against my acne scars and pigmentation. These are somewhat of a recurring issue; I get new ones faster than the old ones heal naturally so there is always something going on on my face. I loved the pads but wanted to try a toner and see how that worked, but when I went to Boots it had sold out. Worst words to hear ever, right? So instead, I picked up the Glycolic Scrub and Glycolic Wash. For what I would consider to be a high street product, Nip + Fab is a tad pricey, but for the quality it is more than good value and I really do think the brand is up there as one of my favourites for skincare.
Nip + Fab Glycolic Scrub – £9.95
I love a good face scrub and ones with acids in are particularly great for buffing away my scarring. My current scrub was The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion scrub which is fab for a weekly deep scrub away of dead skin but, in my opinion, not that great at anything else. I had high hopes for the Nip + Fab version; containing 3% glycolic acid and an unidentified amount of salicylic acid, it is meant to brighten, refine and renew your skin for baby smooth skin.
Despite having both granules and acid, this scrub is extremely gentle. It has enough oomph to make you feel lovely and exfoliated (and I know I’m not the only person to love that feeling of newly scrubbed skin), but not enough to leave your skin sore or red. I’ve been using this two to three times a week and every time I come out of the shower, my skin feels incredibly soft. I also find its much more receptive to serums and moisturisers, meaning I get a great opportunity for optimum hydration when using this.
Would I recommend it? Definitely. I definitely feel like it has helped my scarring, and in general my skin feels amazing when using it. I would say it’s suitable for most people, but those with sensitive skin may want to be cautious due to the acidic ingredients.
Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Cleanser – £7.95
I’m not usually a cleanser type of gal if I’m honest, so I don’t really know why I picked this up. It just beckoned to me. Marketed as a ‘deep cleansing and purifying formula for clear and radiant skin’, this cleanser contains 2% glycolic acid, olive oil and apple amino acid to retexture, cleanse and hydrate, all in one. To use, simple massage it onto clean, damp skin and rinse.
I’m not as big a fan of this as I am the scrub, simply because I find it a little too drying on my skin. I don’t blame this cleanser in particular, as all foaming ones leaves my skin feeling tight. It does go away with a good toner and moisturiser, so I do still use this but not very regularly. On a day to day basis, I use a hot cloth cleanser to take off my makeup. I tend to use this as an intense cleanser before using the scrub; I find it does leave my skin very clean even if it is a little drying, and using both in conjunction means I get a double dose of scar killing acids. Plus, like I said, the scrub makes my skin much more absorbing of any products I use after so a good dose of my The Body Shop Vitamin E Serum in Oil quickly fixes up the whole dry skin issue.
Once again, I’ve got to say I’m a little in love with this Nip + Fab range. I 100% would say my scarring has eased up a little, although the deeper scars and pigmentation is still noticeable (to me at least, everyone else assures me its not!). I won’t be buying the cleanser again as its just a little too drying for my skin and I think my money would be better spent elsewhere, but that’s not to say the product itself is bad! The scrub is all things fabulous and I will 100% be buying it again. I’ll also be trying even more from this range as I can’t get enough of it!
