If you caught my last Sample Sunday, you’d know I went to V Festival last weekend. I said I’d update you here on the Clarins moisturiser, and to be honest there isn’t much to say. It’s a very nondescript moisturiser, it’s not bad but it’s not good. I am still in love with the Soap & Glory Make Yourself Youthful serum, and I’m definitely buying it on payday!
This week, I sampled Manuka Doctor api clear skin treatment serum. The reason I chose this is because drinking breaks me out, and I wanted to do some V Festival damage reversal. I got a few samples from Manuka Doctor ages ago, so it’s a long overdue test anyway!
When I opened this, I was pretty surprised at how it looked. Serums are normally quite milky, but this is a thick gooey yellow gel. Not something you immediately think ‘get on my face’ too. The sample size was pretty big, so I used a good amount the first time. Bad choice. It’s so thick and gooey, it just sat on my face and didn’t absorb. I gave it a good five minutes and my skin was still wet, so I rubbed it in again which got rid of most of the wetness but left my skin feeling uncomfortably tight and sticky. It says to be used morning and night, but there is no way I could have put makeup on over this: even after moisturising, my skin felt tacky and overloaded.
I decided to give the serum another chance the next day, despite being seriously unimpressed. I used a lot less (about the size of a small pea) after cleansing. This time it didn’t leave any residue by my skin did feel tacky, although this had gone after around half an hour. I had a baby spot before I used this, and the next day it had pretty much disappeared, but my monster spot hadn’t really changed. It says it clears skin in three weeks, and I do believe it actually, but it’s not something I’ll be buying.
You can get the serum from the website here, it’s normally £19.99 but they have half price bank holiday weekend so if you want it, get it now!
Have you tried anything from Manuka Doctor before?
