Soap & Glory / The Fab Pore 2 in 1 Mask & Peel
I love alcohol, but my skin does not. I always break out the day after drinking, so I try and do calming facials the next day and pump my skin with nutrients.
I haven’t had much experience with Soap & Glory, but I do love the products I’ve tried. I got this Fab Pore mask as a present from Cohorted (I intern there) for hitting targets for their social media platforms. I love face masks, I actually have about four face masks that are reusable and about 15 that are single use, but I can’t resist getting more.
This mask is a 2 in 1 purifying face mask and peel- the peeling isn’t very well explained, it says that the peeling effect occurs after 15 minutes but as it seems like more of a clay mask it didn’t quite add up to me. I left it on for longer than 15 minutes out of sheer laziness and it still didn’t dry into a peel off mask so who knows what peeling means here.
The packaging on this is very clean, very cute and very ‘I’ll do wonders for your skin’, as is the tub itself: clean, white matte plastic with refreshing aqua writing. Keeping up with the theme, the mask itself is a creamy light mint with dark turquoise specks in it. It smells very aloe vera, cucumbery and refreshing.
Some of the ingredients I recognised are glycerin, salicyclic acid, fruit acids and citric acid, all of which are good ingredients for skincare products, especially for fighting blemishes and oil so I can see why it’s aimed for oily and combination skin.
The mask feels rich and creamy, and when you massage it onto the face (as per instructions) the dark specks work as an exfoliant so you get the added benefit of a quick scrub. It says to focus on the T-zone but I just apply everywhere, as I actually get more spots on my cheeks than anywhere else. This was a bit sensitive on my cystic spots: it stung for the first few minutes but then resided Apart from that, it felt soothing and calming. The mask didn’t dry out and go stiff, which I like as it makes it more comfortable to wear, and allows for eating!
After I washed this off, my skin looked clean and healthy- sort of plumped out and moisturised. I left it on for way over the recommended time, initially out of laziness but then because my housemate decided to have a 12pm shower. Actually realising as I write this I was doing an 11.30pm face mask made me laugh a little bit!
What I like about this mask is it says to use 1 – 3 times a week. I love being able to do masks whenever I have free time but a lot of the ones I have at the moment have ingredients that cause sensitivity and have to be limited to maximum once a week. Buzzkill! Saying that, I don’t feel that this mask had any major changes in my skin from one use, but it did look healthy so it’s obviously doing something! I’ll be using this when my skin is red and inflamed as it seems calming, and in between my uses of my once every two weeks face masks. I actually use them in rotation, so I get to do a face mask every few days!
