Rituals Mild Eye Makeup Remover / Review
I bought Rituals Mild Eye Makeup Remover because I haven’t had a dedicated eye makeup remover for a long time, naughty me. I actually normally rub moisturiser or coconut oil onto my lashes and then wipe off mascara etc with a wipe, but I pull out so many lashes I made the decision to stop. I’m not sure why I chose this makeup remover in particular, I just did.
It comes in a pretty, matte pink bottle with a white leaf drawing on. It has a very slight scent to it but nothing you’d notice- I’d just eaten a tangerine and that completely overpowered it.
The remover is a two phase solution, consisting of a water like layer and a heavier oil layer. It’s contains lotus flower and rice bran oil, although I do not know if these are desirable ingredients, and is a non-greasy formula that works on eye makeup, waterproof makeup and lips. To use, you just shake so the layers mix. I genuinely didn’t notice that it had two layers, or read the instructions (because how hard is it to use an eye makeup remover!?) and as a result only got the top layer of product, which was about as good as water in getting off my makeup. I was really annoyed at buying it until the boyfriend pointed out it had two layers. How embarrassing!
Once I’d actually used this properly, it was better getting off my makeup and doesn’t sting my eyes. I personally would prefer a slightly oiler remover, as it removes makeup slightly easier- this requires quite a bit of reapplying to get rid of all mascara. This one you kind of have to be vigilant in getting off the remains of mascara, but all in all if you don’t like greasy removers it’s really good.
Do you prefer greasy or non-greasy eye makeup removers?
