It’s Degustabox Time!

If you’ve ready my blog for a while (and thanks very much if you have!) you’ll know all about Degustabox*. For those who don’t know, it’s a food subscription box which, for £12.99 a month, allows you to try new brands, products and tasty food and drinks you might otherwise not know about. If you do fancy registering, you can use the code 2G60G to get £3 when registering (which you can do here).

Degustabox

They normally come around the 25th but that’s Christmas Day in December, so this months came a little early. Which was good as we had no food in our house at all, if I’m honest! I’ve pre ordered my shopping from when I’m home after Christmas, I can’t wait to have lots of new fresh food. I’m already feeling pretty grim from eating too many biscuits and sweets and southern comforts.

The Chia Co (£1.70)

What brands can you try Degustabox

I’ve never heard of The Chia Co, but I love the look of these. Oats, chia, fruit and coconut oil all in a convenient sachet to just add water for creamy dairy free porridge. Chia seeds contain omega 3, fibre, protein and a bunch of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants so if you’re looking for a filling and nutritious breakfast, this is it.

Pukka Herbs Green Tea with Sicilian Lemon (£2.39)

Food subscription box UK

I actually love pukka tea, before getting this I had three different varieties! Although it is quite expensive for tea, the flavour is so much better than cheaper versions, probably because they use ingredients like Sicilian lemons. Each tea comes individually wrapped, so the bags stay fresher for longer.

Kent’s Kitchen Madras (£2.50)

Kent's Kitchen madras kit

I got one of these a few Degustabox’s back, and I’ve not tried it yet but I’ve got some paneer in the fridge which will go amazing with this marsala. When I finally get around to making it! All of Kent’s Kitchen meal kits use all natural ingredients, so you can have a curry guilt free.

Bahlsen Choco Leibinz (2 x £1.79)

Surprise food box UK

When Scott saw these, his eyes lit up. Choco Leibinz (or lesbins as he calls them) are made up op milk chocolate wrapped around butter biscuit, and the caramel ones also have a caramel layer (erm, duh). I’m resisting opening these for now because I know once I do, they won’t stay around for long.

Eisburg Non-Alcoholic Wine (£3.49)

Gifts for food lovers

I hate wine with a passion, but for someone who enjoys a drink but has maybe hit it a bit too hard over Christmas and New Year, I can see how this could be a good choice. It’s three times less calories than normal wine, so I’m going to use it instead of wine in recipes that call for it. Eisburg do non-alcoholic wine in Chardonnay, Rose, Cabernet Savignon and Riesling so all you winos have a great choice.

Frylight Infuse Garlic (£2)

Healthy food subscription service

I’ve actually had this before, and had just run out when my Degustabox arrived. Life saver! I use Frylight normally because of the miniscule calories, but we bought the garlic one to save time for adding flavour when we aren’t in a garlic crushing mood. It’s lovely, either use it instead of oil in dishes which garlic compliment, or spray it on toasted baguette for low fat garlic bread. It also really improves the flavour of ready made garlic bread, pizza, basically everything.

Popchips (£1.79)

Food subscription service

Popchips are crisps made through air popping, and are DELICIOUS. We ate the whole bag in about five minutes. Luckily they’re low fat so no guilt! Sort of. I got barbeque flavour, which was lovely, and according to Scott the other flavours are equally as nice.

Gloworm (£1.50 each)

Degustabox review UK blog

At first glace, these don’t seem anything anything special but actually they’re pretty cool. Each flavour has been designed to compliment a specific spirit: Raspberry & Orris goes with vodka, Cucumber & Apple goes with gin, Pear, Spice & Lime pairs with rum and Ginger & Lemongrass goes with bourbon. Makes a welcome change from the generic vodka and coke!

Bonne Maman Course Marmalade (£2.30)

Degustabox UK

I can’t say I was too impressed to see this, just because we got sent a HUGE jar of marmalade a couple of boxes back. Who on earth goes through marmalade that fast, I’ll never know. I think I’m going to look up some marmalade recipes (if there is such a thing) and see if I can use some up that way.

When I first saw this box, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it because a) I hate wine b) I prefer the boxes which has more ingredients to cook with, rather than snacks, but actually in retrospect it’s perfect for December: mixers for your New Years drinks, snacks for Christmas Eve, alcohol free wine for Dry January and healthy porridge and green tea to kick start 2015. Can’t go wrong with that!

Have you tried Degustabox before? Or would you?
