I was invited to SimplyHealth’s healthy smiles campaign in Everyman cinema in Leeds, to watch the first four episodes of Friends. Obviously I said yes because a) who doesn’t love Friends?! And b) I was really curious to see what Everyman cinema is about, seeing as it is ridiculously expensive.
Me and Scott arrived at Everyman a little bit late, so had to rush straight to the private screening room (5 and a half by the way!) but I did notice some amazing looking food on the way. We got to the room (again, 5 and a half!) which was a cute little room with tables, chairs and general sitting and eating type of objects with a bar to the right, and a small but extremely cool cinema room to the left. It was a mismatch of different sofas, each really plush and comfortable, and with each sofa having a ledge on the back that could be used as a foot rest or drinks table. It’s the kind of cinema room I’d have if I was rich and could afford one in my giant manor.
After getting some Rekorderlig (strawberry and lime first, passionfruit second) we settled down to watch the first two episodes. We were given a little goodie bag with some Propercorn popcorn, some gummy teeth and toothbrushes, mints, chewing gum, lip balm and a Friends mug. It’s been ages since I watched Friends, thanks to whoever decided to take it off e4, so I really enjoyed watching them. Seeing it on a big screen really showed how old the show was with the grainy resolution, and it made me wonder if the next generation will thank that about DVDs and shows we think are really good quality now. Weird.
After the second episode, we had a quick break and got back into the last two. We were asked to tweet our favourite Friends quotes for a competition (mine was “I got off the plane” – Ross, and “It’s me, Joey (with turkey emojis obviously)”, and one of the girls won a cute framed Central Perk picture.
SimplyHealth is a private health care provider and the purpose of the #Shhealthysmile campaign was to show how important laughter is to being healthy. I’m really glad I went, it was such a fun evening and I definitely had some real laughs!
What makes you smile?
