The Lazy Girl’s Oil

I may have mentioned it once or twice before, but I am quite lazy. I am actually pretty much known as the lazy friend in all of my friendship groups, due to the frequency at which I delay doing stuff because I’d rather be horizontal amongst many cushions. My laziness is extremely apparent in how I look after my body skin. I only tend to use a body scrub or moisturiser pre fake tan, and I fake tan probably three or four times a year? That’s terrible isn’t it. I hate the feeling of having greasy skin, especially when it’s after a shower and before getting into my PJs. My arm skin doesn’t ever really get dry, but sometimes my shins can get a bit tight and itchy which is probably thanks to my lack of love. Oops. I was recently sent Minvita’s Baobab Body Oil* to try out so I thought  I’d let all you lovelies know how I got on.

Minvita Baobab Oil Review

I have to admit, I had never heard of baobab oil before so I had to research it. Did you know the Baobab tree can live up to 6000 years!? Crazy. The oil contains moisturizing Vitamins A, D, E and F and fatty omega oils, and apparently is found in quite a few beauty ingredients. The Baobab Oil I received is 100% pure cold pressed oil, so while it is £35 you are definitely getting your money’s worth of oil – no added nasties! You also get a spray nozzle, which I love as I hate having oily hands.

What I love about this oil is it’s a dry oil, and by that I mean it’s not greasy. If you’ve ever moisturised with coconut oil, you’ll know the slimy greasy residue that you get as it absorbs over an hour or so? Once the Baobob Oil has been massaged in, it’s gone. No residue. No horrible sticky feeling. Just moisturised, healthy looking skin and dry hands. It’s actually less wet than a moisturiser, so I have actually been using this after I shower. I do sometimes skip it when I’m feeling lazy, but that’s more of a reflection of me than the oil. It’s perfect!

I’ve mentioned before, but I’m currently trying to be silicone free when it comes to hair care. It is bloody hard to find silicone free serums, and my hair has been getting crazy frizzy in the weather, so I’ve been using this on my hair too. As it’s 100% natural, I figured it would be fine. It works well as a leave in serum when my hair is wet, and I’ve also been using a tiny bit as a frizz smoother when my hair is dry, and it’s been working great. I think because it’s such a dry oil, it doesn’t make your hair greasy, especially in comparison to oils I normally use like coconut or almond. I don’t think it would make a great treatment, but as an everyday leave in conditioning oil it’s perfect!

I’d definitely recommend getting this if you a) hate moisturising b) have dry skin or c) are looking for a natural hair serum. It’s great, and a little goes a long way. The price still makes me cringe a bit but I’m still in student mentality mode. It’s weird how I’m happy to spend £35 on jeans, but not on beauty stuff. Value is all psychological I guess.
