Skin Doctors Powerbrasion Review

You probably know by now that my face is a big mess of acne scars. They actually look like those whisker dots you drew on your cats and dogs as a kid. I’m not too bothered about them because scars are a hundred times better than acne itself, but I would like to possess relatively nice skin at some point in my life so most of my skin care is aimed at ridding my skin of these demons.

Skin Doctors Powerbrasion Beauty Review

I’ve been needing a new exfoliator for a while, and every little thing about Skin Doctors Powerbrasion just called to me. I’d love to have microdermabrasion but I am a poor student and can’t see it happening for a long time so figured, at £16.50, this would be a good place to start. The brand name itself, Skin Doctors, just implies that some serious business is about to go down if you use their products. I’m not saying that’s true, but bravo on the marketing genius’ behind that! Same applies with the product name ‘Powerbrasion’. Like microdermabrasion, but EXTRA POWERFUL!!! The packaging is nice and clean, and the tub it comes in is thick, matte glass that feels expensive and like it’s going to be good quality.

At Home Microdermabrasion

The Powerbrasion uses intensive micro-dermabrasion cyrstals for a ‘powerful exfoliating action to reduce signs of aging for a fresh, glowing complexion’ and says you can achieve professional results in as little as 10 days. The crystals are microencapsulated, which means they shouldn’t scratch or damage your skin. It is meant to be used as part of a two-step care routine, which I haven’t bothered with but if you’re interested it is the Gamma Hydroxy 24 hour resurfacing cream.

To use, you wash your face, massage in and leave for five minutes before taking it off with a dry flannel and rinsing. If you are one of those people who love the feeling of your skin being scraped off (which I am) you will love this! Especially as the beads are designed to not damage your skin, so you get all the exfoliating but none of the harshness, athough some of my skin was quite pink straight after! I actually misread the instructions and didn’t rinse this off (I did think it was a bit odd), but I did use my toner afterwards so probably got rid of most of the residue.

After I had moisturised, I was actually surprised to find my skin felt a little smoother. Not insanely, but enough to think about it. My skin starting burning for about five minutes after I had serum and moisturised, but it wasn’t painful and it didn’t last. It also may not have happened if I had rinsed it off! It says to expect a slight tingling at first but as you use it, this lessens, so don’t panic if it’s a bit much at first!

The next morning, I actually noticed my skin looked a whole load smoother! I have two mini cystic spots at the moment, and although they are still there the skin around them was not as red or inflamed, and any dry skin surrounding old spot scars was noticeably smoother. Seriously impressed! It says to expect nice, clean smooth skin after your first use which is spot on, so I am really excited to see how this fares out after I’ve used it a couple of times!

I’ve only used this once but I already love it and I’m really excited to see how it deals with my acne scars! It can also be used to treat signs of aging, freckles, scarring, visible pores and wrinkles.
