Revlon Colour Burst Matte Balm / Review & Swatch

As soon as I saw the first (of many) reviews on the Revlon Colour Burst balms, I wanted one. I don’t wear lipstick that often but a recent purchase of Rimmel’s Kate Matte Lipstick made me fall in love with matte lipsticks, and all the reviews and swatches of the matte balm just pulled me in with their bright colours and soft, matte finish.

I bought shade 240 (striking spectactulaire) in part of the 3 for 2 offer. There wasn’t very many shades available if I’m honest, as they had all sold out! This colour was beautiful though so I wasn’t too bothered, I really love coral toned lipsticks. I didn’t have time to take brand spanking new photos as I was going straight out for my friends birthday, but before it’s used it has a waxy finish which doesn’t leave a lot of colour. Once it’s off though, the colour and pigment of the balm is beautiful.

The Colour Burst balms have shea, coconut and mago butter in them, so despite it being a matte lipstick, it actually leaves your lips so soft and nourished! Not only did this mean I didn’t have to frequently lip balm in between lipstick applications, it meant that my lips didn’t develop any dry flakes and looked smooth the whole time I was wearing it.

I was impressed with how well the colour stays on- anything that lasts during a few hours predrinks is pretty resilient! The shape of the lipstick means it is easily applied, unlike normal lipsticks which glide all over the edge of your lips and face, this has a kind of tip so it can be used like a pen to colour in your lips. I also like that the colour of the whole pen crayon thing is the same colour as the lipstick, this would be really convenient if you have quite a few versions. Which I am planning on…

I actually adore this balm, I will definitely be purchasing more colours in the matte, and trying out the lacquer version. For £7.99, you get long lasting, highly pigmented, gorgeous lips that last for ages. My kind of product!

Have you tried these? Which colour do you think I should go for next!
