Blogging Aims

I’ve had my little blog for nearly six months now! It might not be the biggest or the best blog out there but I’m really proud of it. Whenever someone goes out of there way to tell me they like my blog, I actually feel like I am swelling with happiness! It really stuns me that people like it and I don’t think I could ask for a better community of bloggers to be there to make me love blogging.

Now I’ve got in to the swing of blogging, I have decided to set myself some goals. It ties in nicely with me finishing university so I will have more time to spend on my blog! These goals are to make me happier with my blog, rather than to make my blog ‘better’ as it were. I just want to be proud of my little internet baby I have made and improvement is definitely on the cards!

1. Improve my photography
In all honesty, I can take a good photograph. But things like lighting, editing and that just go a bit over my head. I always feel really jealous of blogs with pretty pictures, so I want to improve mine. One of the things I always feel let down by is my room- I have a really basic student room, with no room and no natural lighting. Both my living room and kitchen have no natural lighting (the house faces the wrong way!) and are always disgusting anyway. I move out in July to my new flat (eeek!) and I am hoping to make a little blog space for all my photos :)

2. Make more time for finding new blogs
With revision and deadlines and internships, it’s been really hard to find the time to find new blogs. I try and comment on around five blogs a day minimum, but I’m starting to see where I am going to the same blogs and I want to branch out. Meet some new people, find some inspiration, widen my blog horizon!

3. Blog more lifestyle
I love the lifestyle posts I have written so far. Posts on why I like being boring, how I felt handing in my dissertation, what detox I am trying at the time. Maybe it’s because I’m not very knowledgeable on a lot of beauty brands out there, but I feel like lifestyle, food, haircare and the occasional fashion and beauty post is more my forte, rather than beauty supplemented by others. I feel like if I don’t push myself into beauty posts, it’s something I’ll discover naturally. I’ve gotten a lot more into makeup since I started blogging, and skin and hair care has always been my thing so I’m confident that if I write about it as and when I feel like it, they’ll be much better quality.

4. Support other bloggers more
Sometimes, I read posts and think how great they are and I’ll comment saying how much I love it, but I want to start sharing the love for bloggers on Twitter. People work hard on their blogs, they should be recognised for it! So if I really love someone’s post, I am going to share it more, or retweet the blogger.

5. Stop comparing my blog to others
My blog might not be as big, or pretty, or as good as other blogs but I’ve worked really hard for it and I think I should learn to give myself some credit! Hopefully, when I have a bit more time to spend on my blog, I’ll be able to work on things that I don’t like and turn it into something I can be happy with.

I’m really, really glad I started (and stuck at!) Touchscreens & Beautyqueens. I think I’ve learnt a lot in the past six months and now is no time to stop!
