Biotherm: Biosource Instant Hydrating Softening Lotion

Hey lovely readers! I hope you’ve all had a good weekend. I’ve had a really nice day and will be blogging about it tomorrow so don’t forget to check back or subscribe to me to find out why (self promo, sorry not sorry!) :)

I got given Biotherm’s Biosource instant hydrating softening lotion from my internship as a thank you for reaching targets and stuff, as they had a couple lying around. It’s a hydrating and softening lotion that is meant to be used after cleansing and toning but before serums and moisturisers.  I use some acne treatments so I decided to put it on after cleansing and before these, as I felt it might wash them off what with it being watery!

My first thoughts on the packaging are that it is a big bottle, which is always good. It’s a nice soft pink bottle with simple silver writing, but manages to not look too tacky or too sickly cute. It uses a dispenser pump which I thought would mean it is nice and easy to dispense but, what with the almost water like consistency, this shot out and went all over my hand first go. Not what I wanted! I made sure I kept the cotton wool ball right under the pump after that. It smells lovely, really soft and sort of soapy smell, not in a hand wash soap way but the way a really elegant lady smelled like when you were a kid. It’s nice, trust me!

You only need like two pumps to get enough product for your face, which is good. It is instantly soothing, and dries quickly which is good as I hate waiting for products to dry. My skin feels very smooth afterwards and yes, hydrated and softened, so no problems with it doing its job! I did find that my skin felt a bit tight around my jawline after, but that went away with moisturising so no biggie.

This product worked nicely and did exactly as it said so I can’t fault it for that, but to be completely honest with you, I don’t really see the need in it. I already use serums and moisturisers to hydrate and soften my skin, so I’m not sure why I need to put some hydrating water on it beforehand. It does feel nice and refreshing on the skin, but I still feel it is a bit pointless, especially if you already have a good skincare routine. Saying that, I haven’t used it in the morning yet, so maybe it will belong better in my morning routine as I don’t use as heavy moisturiser or any serums. It’s a nice product but maybe more for those with money to splash out on products they don’t really need. It also might be good for those with extremely dry skin, as an extra step to add in moisture. If you have normal skin or a tight bank account, I’d say don’t bother.

What do you think? Am I being a bit naïve to think it’s unnecessary? I’d love to hear your comments!
