Once upon a time my hair never grew, but I nursed it back to health (see how I grew my hair) and it became long and beautiful (ish). Then I stopped caring about it, the ends grew brittle and I realised there was no point me ditching my hair care routine when it got healthy, as obviously it would deteriorate! Naughty me.
I got this Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment as a present, and was excited as I have never tried their products. This treatmet, containing that oh so natural ingredient pro-growth, is a protein based complex that is said to reach the inner cortex of your hair and follicles to help hair grow faster* and reach its maximum potential length.
Some of its said benefits are:
Vital hair and scalp complex helps to reduce hair loss
Improves follicle health which in turn increases the ability of the hair to anchor to the scalp
Soothing formulation reduces irritation which in turn increases the ability of the hair to anchor to the scalp
Soothing formulation reduces irritation and moisturises the scalp
Address hair and scalp aging at cellular level
Improvement in tensile strength to give body and texture by penetrating the hair reaching the inner cortex
Improves volume and feel of the hair
At first, I didn’t realise this wasn’t a conditioning treatment: it’s actually meant to be used in between shampooing and conditioning, which I imagine is because it is protein based, and protein can make your hair feel stiff. The formula is very runny (I definitely didn’t open it at an angle and spill some on my jeans…) and smells nice but non descriptive.
I used this after highlighting my hair to give it a bit of extra nourishment. After shampooing, I coated my hair root to tips and left for a few minutes, before rinsing off and conditioning as usual.
I never use conditioner above my ears as I don’t like to wash my hair more than twice a week and conditioner makes the roots super greasy, so I was slightly worried about using this on my roots, but it was fine. If anything, it made the top of my hair feel softer than usual, but without any heaviness or residue.
After use, my hair does feel lovely and thick. I did get the ends completely chopped off last week, so obviously it should be in pretty good condition, but I also highlighted and slightly ombre’d my hair using home hair bleach and normally this frazzles the crap out of it, so I definitely think this has helped to repair the internal hair damage.
*I know that there is no miracle cure for hair growth, and nothing other than nourishment and time will help it grow, but I do think that protein is really important in helping rebuild your hair strength, so this product is a handy little gem if you have weak hair that you’re wanting to condition
