Today’s Sample Sunday is MAC Prep and Prime Skin. How fancy! I love samples that aren’t sachets, anything mini sized is just completely adorable in my eyes. I’ve actually heard good things about MAC Prep and Prime so I was excited to give it a go.
Unlike most primers I’ve tried, Prep and Prime isn’t aimed at pore blurring so it doesn’t feel as siliconey as others, it’s more of a light, white day cream to look and feel at first. It does provide a slight smoothening effect but if you’re looking for a pore blurring primer, this isn’t it. However, it does smooths your skin enough to provide a good base for makeup and help your skin look a lot more flawless! It’s quite shimmery, which definitely brightens up the face and helps to counteract redness but I’d advise to use it sparingly as you don’t want to be a glitter bomb.
In terms of increasing makeup longevity, MAC Prep and Prime is amazing! I used it in the morning and had a day of rushing around, taking blog photos and coming in and out of fluctuating temperatures and my makeup was still pretty much flawless by the end of the day! So top marks for that.
I really liked this actually, I’m glad it’s one of those samples I’ll get to use a few times as it does do a great job as a primer! At £21 for 30ml, it’s actually quite good value for money seeing as you only use a small amount. Plus it really does improve how your makeup sits and how long it lasts so if you wear makeup for long periods of time, I’d definitely recommend it.
I’m in two minds about whether to get this for myself! I do really love it and I’ll be sad when my sample goes, but the only time I wear makeup for more than a few hours at a time is on nights out and that’s rare these days. That being said, it would last so long that the £21 would really be an investment so I think I might buy it on payday.
