This Sample Sunday nearly didn’t make it. I’ve been so busy during the week, so my plan was to write it up on the train home to Stevenage Friday night. Except silly old me forgot my laptop! So I’m writing this up on my sister’s terribly slow and frustrating laptop. Dedication for ya!
Today’s sample is a drug store product: Rimmel BB Cream in matte. I tried this on Thursday before my internship, and forgot to take my makeup with me. A risky move, especially as I went out for food, bowling and drinks after (e.g. got very drunk on yummy cocktails and failed at bowling completely). When I put on the BB cream, I was really impressed by the amount of coverage it gave. I would say light to medium, but BB creams are normally sheer to light. It definitely gave a matte finish too, to the point I didn’t need powder on my T zone!
The problem arose around 1pm. The night before, I had used Mario Badescu Drying Mask and Buffering Lotion, as I’ve just had an outbreak of five cysts on my face, and obviously that had dried my skin out. Not loads, but as the day wore on the BB cream started to wear off, bar from any patches of dry skin leaving my face patchy. The colour was a good match so it wasn’t like I looked streaky, but it made it look like I had mild eczema on my face. Â And I didn’t have any makeup to fix it! Luckily everywhere we went was dark so I managed to get away with it but still.
I wish I had another sample to try when my skin wasn’t dry, as I think this is probably really good for combination and oily skin. Definitely, 100% steer clear if you’re a dry skinned gal. This is not the BB cream for you!
What samples have you been trying out lately?
