Welcome to another Sample Sunday. I’d like to think you’re enjoying my series, but who actually knows. This week it’s Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser, courtesy of Elle magazine. I was actually super excited to try this – I saw all the hype (and slating) go round comparing it to a dupe of the Porefessional, but never actually bought it as I had the genuine Porefessional so waste not want not and everything.
After leaving a good five minutes for my moisturiser to sink in, I whipped out the Pore Eraser. I always start with my nose with primers, anyone else do that? I found the sachet was the perfect amount for my face, so I wouldn’t say a little goes a long way but I also wouldn’t say you need loads. It feels quite silicone-y, although not as much as the Instablur, and it’s a bit thinner in texture too. It smooths on well enough, and does give a pore blurring effect. Not as much as the Porefessional, which may be due to the fact it’s translucent, but well enough that you notice a difference. My foundation went on very well over it (a problem I found with The Bodyshop Instablur) and there wasn’t any chalky leftover residue (a problem I sometimes get with the Porefessional) so in terms of setting a good makeup base, absolutely no complaints.
I checked on my makeup around six hours later and while my blusher had slipped a little bit, there was minimal difference to my foundation and my makeup was still kind of in tact after a gym session (FYI I don’t normally gym in my makeup but I went straight after work and forgot to pack cleanser, no judging) so I have to give it a thumbs up in terms of helping makeup stay put longer.
Overall, I have to say I’m impressed. It may not be as blurring as the Porefessional, but it does blur, it sets a decent base and it ensures makeup lasts. For £7.99, that’s impressive. I’m glad I got this sample (thanks Elle!) as I wouldn’t have bought this before with all the mixed reviews, but I can safely say when my Porefessional runs out I will buy this instead.
Have you used the Pore Eraser before?
