TRESemme Keratin Smooth

Before keratin based products blew up all over the beauty world, I bought the Tresemme Keratin Smooth shampoo, conditioner, deep treatment masque and heat protection spray. I was going to get the seven day smooth version, but it was twice as expensive for half the size and I figured I should try this first, in case I didn’t like it.

This Keratin Smooth range claims to keep you frizz free for up to 48 hours (once you’ve used heat to sort of seal it) and is gentle enough to use on coloured or damaged hair. I’ve used up all of the conditioner, around half of the shampoo (isn’t that always the case?), and have used the masque regularly when my hair needs a boost. I also use the protecting spray almost every time I dry my hair, so it’s fair to say I’ve tried and tested this range as long as possible!

Tresemme Keratin Smooth review

Tresemme Keratin Smooth shampoo:

I’ll be honest, shampoo is not my forte at all. I don’t always shampoo my hair, as I hate stripping away the natural oils, so if my hair isn’t greasy and I’ve not got any products in it, I tend to skip it. Kudos to this shampoo, it has a good lather and leaves my hair feeling clean but not stripped or dry at all.

Tresemme Keratin Smooth conditioner:

The conditioner is a good consistency, not thin and watery which I HATE, and not so thick that you can’t use it as a daily conditioner. It’s leaves my hair feeling smooth, but it’s not the most nourishing conditioner so if you have dry or damaged hair, maybe go for a more intense range.

Tresemme Keratin Smooth deep treatment masque:

I do really like this masque, actually. It’s a good thickness, but washes out well so doesn’t leave my hair feeling overloaded. I’d be happy to use this as a regular conditioner for times when my hair needs an extra boost, I used to use conditioning masques instead of conditioner all the time!

Tresemme Keratin Smooth heat protection spray:

I never really know how to tell if a heat protection spray works? I guess my hair isn’t any more damaged than usual and I blow dry it and straighten it probably once or twice a week so it must be doing something. I only use this on wet hair, as it’s a very wet spray, so I’m not sure how well it would work on dry hair but yeah, no complaints.

Overall? I do find my hair isn’t as frizzy once it’s been blow dried and straightened, and I do find that it stays pretty frizz free over night. I do need to restyle my fringe-y front parts of my hair each day, as these go crazy over night but I still wouldn’t say they were frizzy. It doesn’t really work without straightening though, my hair is pretty frizzy left in it’s natural straight because I have some crazy unruly curls and waves going on. I think if you find frizz a problem, and straighten your hair regularly because of it, the Keratin Smooth range or the Keratin 7 Day Smooth range will probably be up your street. I won’t be repurchasing because I prefer shampoos and conditioners aimed at nourishing and moisturising but I really don’t think this is a bad range, especially for the price.

Pros:
Affordable
Long lasting
Keeps hair smooth when styled with heat
Doesn’t strip or weighing down hair

Cons:
Not particularly nourishing (it’s not drying either, it just sits in the middle).

Have you tried this range? What do you think?
