The Mask Your Coloured Hair Needs

I was actually sent this Jo Hansford Expert Colour Care Intensive Masque* ages ago to review but never featured it on my blog because I didn’t get on with it. I tried it sporadically a few times and it felt like it left a weird residue on my hair during the shower, which somehow turned my hair into a frizzy fluffy mess once dried. I don’t know how, that’s just what happened. I have a bad habit of never binning things from the shower and although I did finally bin my empties after a few months of them hanging around, I could never bring myself to bin this when it was basically full. Which is how, around four months after getting it, I came about using it again.

I know some of it’s gone green, I had fake tan on when I used it. Awkward!

The texture of this is weird, like putty almost. It sounds weird but actually it’s pretty useful, one of my pet hates is when you use an intensive conditioner and it’s so thin it just drips out of your hand. This is so thick it sticks to every strand of hair and doesn’t budge until you wash it off. Washing off takes a few goes, and it does feel like it leaves your hair sticky almost. I can’t really explain the feeling, but basically it feels like you’ve not fully washed it out. Despite that, your hair doesn’t look at all greasy or weighed down afterwards so I’m not sure why it feels that way! You don’t need a lot, maybe a small scoop, to cover your hair as although it’s thick, it spreads out well.

I was quite nervous after using it, seeing as the last time had left me a fluffy ball of hair, but I was really surprised when my hair had dried. Every inch of my hair felt soft, smooth and nourished, and had a little less frizz than I’m normally used to. Honestly, one of the best results I’d ever got from a conditioner. I spent all day touching my hair admiring how soft it felt. I find the most nourishing ones tend to be a bit too much for my hair and can leave it weighed down, and the lesser nourishing ones just aren’t as moisturising as I’d like them to be. This had the perfect balance!

Despite how much I ended up liking the masque, this isn’t something I’d buy for myself as it costs £28. If you don’t mind spending money on conditioner, definitely go for it! But as I’ve mentioned probably a million times in my blog, I AM POOR. I can’t really afford to spend more than £15 on a conditioner, unless it’s a hard earned treat.

If you want to try this out without breaking the bank, Look Fantastic do a mini version for £7.75, and actually it bizarrely works out cheaper to get three of these (140ml) than to get one full sized version (150ml).
