Disappointing Lip Products

I love orange lipstick, especially in summer. It can be quite hard to get hold of a decent orange, most seem to be either coral or red toned. I actually got MAC Morange for my birthday (review coming soon!) but before that, I tried two lipsticks which have really disappointed me.

Also, I know these don’t look very orange in the photos but they look more orange in person.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Carnival Spirit:

After completely loving the Revlon Matte Colourburst balms, I thought I would love this. The colour is gorgeous, although a little coral-ly. Sadly, this did not live up to my expectations. It leaves such a sheer, thin colour that even after about six applications, my lips looked almost exactly the same colour as prior to putting on, except for any dry skin as the lipstick clung to these and gave little lines of colour on random patches. No thanks.

H&M Lip Pen in Papaya Punch:

Same problem, different product. I had such high hopes for this as I love lip pens – they are so much easier to control than lipstick! Unfortunately, this doesn’t leave any colour on your lips either!

Lipstick Review

Both products are really moisturising, and pretty cheap (the Revlon is £4.99, the H&M is £2.99) so it’s not a huge deal now I’ve got them – I am going to use them on top of my Morange when I wear it. But I would in no way go out and buy these again, nor would I recommend buying them. The darker colours might be alright, I think the pigment for this kind of colour just isn’t dark enough to override my lips.

Pros:
Cheap
Moisturising

Cons:
Leaves little to no colour

Have you tried any of these ranges? What are your opinions?
