Sample Sunday #12

I can’t believe it’s been three months since I started my Sample Sunday series! Where does the time even go? Like seriously, I don’t think I’ve done anything in the past three months. I need to really make more of life but I feel like all I want to ever do is sleep and be warm.

Today’s sample is NARS Sheer Glow, a cult foundation if there ever was one. I’ve actually wanted to try this for ages thanks to the constant praise it gets from bloggers. I picked up the sample from work in shade Fiji, which is slightly lighter and yellower than my skin tone but makes a good match with some blending. If I was to buy this, I would definitely get colour matched though just to make sure!

NARS Sheer Glow Fiji

If you had never read up on Sheer Glow, you would expect to have a sheer coverage foundation with a dewy, glowing finish. Well, you would be wrong. I would say it’s a medium coverage, maybe erring on the heavy side? Basically, it covered all my minor blemishes and conceals most of the redness, but if I wanted to have flawless skin I’d still need a concealer. It does give that whole face one colour thing going on so you definitely need blush and highlighter minimum to break your face up and give you back some facial features!

It has a semi-matte finish once it’s been buffed in which I think adds to the whole you need some highlighter and blush to make it look more natural. The wear time with a primer is great, it lasts all day and you don’t have to really worry about being shiny or makeup free.

If you’re looking for a medium to heavy coverage, long lasting foundation then NARS Sheer Glow is a good bet but it comes at a price; £31. Now, I know for some people spending £30 on a foundation is nothing but for me it’s just not something I can afford. I’m not exactly well off right now, being a graduate living away from home on what is, let’s say, not the best wage, so I prefer my foundations to be around a tenner if possible. I actually have a foundation that, while it isn’t a dupe for NARS Sheer Glow, does provide a similar coverage and finish, and it has a long wear time so if you are also not in the position to hand over £30 for a foundation, check out L’Oreal Infallible foundation.
