The Winter Degustabox

If Degustabox could be summed up in an emoji, it would be the clapping emoji. It is just so spot on as a concept, and always surprises me with new food and drink I wouldn’t try otherwise. Doing a degree in psychology really makes me more aware of certain things out and about in the world, such as our tendency to stick with things we are familiar with. Shopping is no exception; it’s no coincidence that you tend to go for the same brands and products on auto-pilot out when you’re doing your weekly food shop. That’s what makes Degustabox so awesome – it forces you to try new brands and products, and in doing so enables you to find new food and drink you love.

This month’s Degustabox, the Winter Box, was no exception!

Kettle Chips £2.19

I love kettle chips, they’re such good quality snacking crisps. A bit of sour cream to dip into, and you have yourself some fine dining. I got the Salsa & Mesquite flavour in my Degustabox, which isn’t a flavour I would normally pick (hello, mature cheddar and red onion am I right?) but actually tasted gorgeous, and I’d happily choose them again. The other choice of flavour was Stilton & Port, which sounds soo good. I love cheese too much.

Kent’s Kitchen £1.85

I’ve used flavour shots before, but not be Kent’s Kitchen. These are actually a lot more affordable than most flavour shots, as you get four individual packs. I’ve got Fajita flavour, and I love a good fajita, so I can’t wait to try them out with some homemade guacamole. We have some squeezy guac, and it’s 1% avocado powder. What’s that about? Gross. Homemade is the way forward!

Cool Dawn £1.49 each (£2.98)

A detox drink that prevents and cures hangovers? How have I not discovered this sooner! In Freshers, I used to swear by daily multivitamins and a pre-bed hydration sachet for helping a hangover, so I have high hopes for this. If it works, I will definitely be getting some in for when I have a big night planned.

Branston Chutney £1.50

You know, I am not 100% sure what a chutney is. It can’t be a savoury jam, because you get mango chutney! Either way, I love it. I got the Mediterranean Tomato chutney in my box, but you could also get Caramelised Onion. I’ve never had a tomato chutney before, but I bet it would go nice with nibbles or perhaps a cheese sandwich.

Pip Organic Cloudy Apple £1.50 each (£3.00)

I’m not a massive apple juice fan if I’m honest, so Scott will be drinking these. I think they’re wasted on him though; they’re organic, not from concentrate, and have no added sugars, water preservatives or additives. He just doesn’t appreciate super healthy stuff, which Pip Organic clearly is! If you like healthy juices and smoothies, it’s definitely worth trying them out.

Montano £2.79

I’ve not heard of Montano before, but this ‘elegantly crafted Italian cider’ sounds a lot nicer than Strongbow! My ultimate drink in first year was Strongbow, vodka and blackcurrant squash. It honestly tastes great, and gets you insanely drunk which, as a fresher, was my main aim. Thankfully I’ve come far enough to just appreciate a nice drink without needing to get smashed, so I’ll save this for an evening after a stressful day.

Holy Cow £1.69 each (£3.38)

I love curries, I actually think Indian might be my favourite treat cuisine ever. The two packs of sauce I got were Goan Prawn, and Madras Chettinad, which both sound delicious and authentic to me! All of Holy Cow’s curries are made with all natural ingredients, with no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives, and are gluten and wheat free and suitable for vegetarians.

Lindor My Melting Moment £0.65p each (£3.25)

It’s not Christmas without chocolate, so these Lindt snowflakes are perfect picks for the winter Degustabox. I’ve only split one with Scott so far, but I’m not sure how long I’ll manage to resist the rest as they are gorgeous! The inside is like a thick, melted ganache or gorgeousness. So worth the 65p.

Drink Me Chai

This month’s sample is a chai latte sachet, which I am so excited to try! I first tried Chai Tea in India, and it was gorgeous. I now have a box of Chai Tea tea-bags which is nice, but nothing special so I’m excited to try this latte at some point!

I love that this month’s Degustabox is such a good mix of drinks, sauces and snacks as it means whatever I fancy, there is an option. It’s just seriously such a good box! And you lucky duckies can get £3 off your first box using code K2OL2.

Check out the Degustabox website here.

Have you tried Degustabox? Or do you want to if not?
