Foundation is relatively new to me. Before acne, I didn’t wear it as I didn’t feel the need to. During my acne, I didn’t wear it because it made it look, and get, worse. Now, post acne, I wear it to help conceal my acne scarring (seriously, cheers world) but I don’t particularly like wearing it. And it’s been pretty hard to find good foundation that I can afford on my seriously low student budget.
That being said, I’ve had two new additions to my base that I really like. I bought L’Oreal Infallible in natural rose after seeing its praises on a blog, and the Seventeen Blemish Balm in light was part of a free gift in a Company magazine subscription my boyfriend got me.
I like to use the Seventeen Blemish Balm as my overall base, as I only heavily apply makeup to my cheeks where my scarring is. It’s meant to help breakouts and minimise pores, and it has SPF 25 so you know it’s good for your skin in the long term. I can’t say whether this has improved my skin as I only wear makeup once or twice a week and I barely get spots anymore, but as a base this is really good. The consistency is nice and light, and it’s medium coverage which for BB cream is really good. If you skin that needs just a tad coverage for smooth, glow-y skin, this is perfect for you. I’m going to take it with me on holiday so I can engage in some safe sunning with a bit of cover up!
The L’Oreal Paris Infallible is just amazing. It’s so creamy and a little goes a really long way. The coverage is medium to thick, but you can easily layer up without it going cakey, and it completely smooth’s over every pore and blemish you have. While I’ve not tested out the 24 hour claim, I’ve not had any problems with it wearing off my face, and I’ve managed to stay pretty shine free while wearing it.
Both these colours are completely different to each other- my actual skin is quite light, and the L’Oreal Infallible natural rose is a perfect match for my general face, but the Seventeen BB balm in light matches my cheeks where the pigment has meant my skin is a lot darker. It’s really annoying! I basically use the BB balm, which is darker, to bring all my skin one shade and then blend in the Infallible! Once I’m tanned, I won’t be able to use the Infallible but the Blemish Balm will be perfect, and once my pigment has finally (hopefully!) gone, the BB balm will probably be too dark to use.
I honestly think both of these products are perfect for anyone. The Infallible is just incredibly good for a drug store foundation, and is fab for those days you need heavier coverage, and the BB balm is great for those summer days where you just want a little bit of help for your skin.
Have you tried any of these? Or have you got any foundations and BB creams I should be trying next?
