NYC All Day Long Foundation
I picked up this New York Colour all day long foundation when I was just getting over the worst of my acne, but had reall dry skin still from using Quinoderm. I am in no means a foundation expert, I didn’t use it before my acne as I had good skin, and I didn’t use it during acne because it clung to my spots and made them look worse. So this was essentially, my first foundation experience.
After a little patch test, I picked ‘Classic beige’. It claims to be an all day long foundation (14 hours, to be precise) and to visibly reduce appearance of dark areas while refining skin tone and controlling shine. It’s enriched with vitamins and anti-oxidants to keep your skin happy as well.
The foundation comes in a slim tube with a handy pump. I’d say you need about three pumps to cover your face. As my skin was dry when I bought it, my main concern was those horrible clumpy patches of dry skin that foundation can make blaringly obvious if you’re not careful, but I actually found this foundation didn’t do this at all. It literally glides over any rough, dry patches.
It’s got a nice, dewy texture. Not completely matte, I would say it gives your skin a kind of plumped up, healthy look to it. Unfortunately, it’s a really sheer coverage. It doesn’t do much to hide my scars, not that it claimed to, mind. I also can’t tell you if it lasts 14 hours as I take my makeup off as soon as I can, which is normally within a few hours as I am only ever out the house for lectures or a shift at work.
I do really like this foundation, purely for its finish. I currently use it after Vichy concealer and cream foundation to give my skin a really fresh, healthy finish, but there is no way I could use it on its own. I would say it is best suited for young, blemish free skin, as it kind of just highlights that youthful radiance. If you’re after a heavy coverage, I honestly wouldn’t bother, but at only £3, I think it’s a nice little foundation to have for those less makeup-py days, especially now it’s getting to summer and it’s nice to have lighter makeup.
