The Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray is my first ever Urban Decay product. I’ve seen so much hype and positivity around the brand, but I don’t really wear makeup enough to spend nearly £40 on an eyeshadow palette. I barely wear makeup, and when I do it is usually only for a few hours while I go into town.
Occasionally, I do go out and get stupidly drunk and that is when I ask a lot for my makeup. Ain’t nobody got time for sweaty pictures with my makeup down my face. When I was in school, my friends and I had the ingenius idea of using hair spray on our faces to keep our makeup going strong (excellent for our eyes and lungs) and it honestly wasn’t until recently that I realised the makeup equivalent to hair spray existed!
What it says:
It’s a weightless finishing spray which holds makeup in place and looking fresh for 16 hours.
Ensures your makeup stays flawless in hot, humid, cold and windy conditions.
I’ve tried this a few times. The first time I really tested it was when I did a shoot for Ark, the lights are so bright and hot that sweating my makeup off was a big concern, and then the second time was when I went to a wedding. To use, you just spray it on your face (in an x shape) once your makeup is applied. It sprays in a light mist, although if you accidentally spray too close you’re basically just getting squirted in the face. It’s a very nondescript spray, no smell, no anything.
On a day to day basis, I can’t tell if this has improved the longevity of my makeup as I don’t wear it long enough. Wearing it at the shoot with five hours under intense light and a lot of heat, my makeup stayed put but it didn’t stop my face getting it’s shine on. At the wedding, I wasn’t under any bright spotlights but I was reunited with one of my best friends, which somehow ended up with us both leaping into a giant in a tree and climbing a rusty gypsy train (along with drinking copious amounts of booze) so I think it’s fair to say I put the spray to the test then! After seven hours of running around, my makeup still looked pretty good, but again didn’t prevent me from getting a bit of a shine on.
I wouldn’t go out and buy this again. At £20 for 118ml, it’s pretty steep and while it does keep my makeup in place, it doesn’t stop me from needing to reapply powder after a few hours and for me, that’s not the definition of keeping my makeup flawless for 16 hours. If shine isn’t an issue for you, this would probably be perfect though!
Pros:
Helps keep makeup in place if it normally dissappears
Cons:
Doesn’t prevent shiny face!
Expensive
