Last year I was a student ambassador for Windows Access All Areas and as a thank you for being amazing at it (this is me blowing my own horn!) I got £150 Love 2 Shop vouchers, alongside keeping the laptop and phone they gave me. I got the vouchers towards the end of my spending ban and was immediately like, to Boots please!
I’d just read Daisy’s post on Maybelline Colour Drama Lip crayons and decided I needed them. Straight away. So I rushed off to Boots for a mini spend (I had to limit myself as I was taking my little sister shopping that weekend and wanted to buy lots of things then). The good thing was Maybelline was on 3 for 2, but the shelves had been ransacked. It was like a beauty shortage was coming and everything good had been taken already. The Dream Pure BB Cream I love was gone, the Instant Pore Eraser that I recently tried in my Sample Sunday was gone, basically everything was gone. Fab.
I picked up two of the Colour Drama crayons, in 140 Minimalist and 630 Nude Perfection. I realise they both look very similar but I’ve been really wanting to branch out into nude lips lately, and actually Minimalist is a shimery beige pink and Nude Perfection is a matte bronze nude so. I also picked up the Big Eye eyeliner, which is a duo eyeliner crayon consisting of a beige-cream colour, and a black. I love the look of eye makeup when your waterline has been coloured in with a light colour which is why I picked it up (and the lack of EVERYTHING to choose from!). I also got my boyfriend some caffeine shampoo as he’s worried he’s balding bless him! But shh, no telling.
The lip crayons are incredibly pigmented, although Minimalist needs a couple of layers in comparison to Nude Perfection which only really needs one layer to make an impact. I’m assuming that’s because of the shimmer in Minimalist though, and either way the colour you get for the £4.99 price tag is still amazing. The crayon design makes them so easy to use! I definitely prefer lip crayons to lipsticks for application, especially for creating a fuller lip as you can trace slightly outside the lip line.
I got the Big Eye liner in shade 02, although I didn’t even realise there was other shades as this was the only one out. The beige side is the perfect nude to counteract the redness of my waterlines, and the crayon itself is soft and creamy enough that it isn’t painful or uncomfortable to apply. The black side isn’t the blackest black possible, although it’s possible to get a really dark line it’s a lot of pressure that I don’t want near my eye. Luckily, I quite like rough and messy ‘slept in’ eyeliner, so it’s the perfect eyeliner for that kind of look. Again, the crayon is creamy and soft and both sides are easy to use and manipulate to get clean lines. The duo is only £4.99, although I essentially got it free because of the offer.
I love the quality of the Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Crayons, they are so reasonably priced and you get a lot of pigment for it. The actual size of the crayons isn’t huge, they’re like tiny chubby sticks but I would still recommend them. The Big Eye Liner is okay, I’m happy I’ve got it in the 3 for 2 but I don’t think I would go out and buy it again, mainly because I’d rather buy the cream eyeliner on it’s own for cheaper as I don’t need the black eyeliner.
