Christmas is over, which means there’s only one thing left on everyone’s minds: New Years Resolutions! I have kind of a love-hate relationship with New Years resolutions. On the one hand, I think we should always strive to be our best or to achieve something new, but on the other hand it’s nice to have a fresh start and say, “okay so that didn’t go how I wanted, let’s try harder this time.”
Normally, my resolutions are stuff like 1) lose weight 2) be tidy 3) be organised etc etc, but this year I wanted to focus on things that aren’t so superficial, and are achievable too. I just want to be the best me possible, I guess!
Improve my fitness
I’ve been really enjoying the gym again now I’ve got my motivation back, and my friends and I decided to run the North London half marathon, so I’ve been running again, as well as resistance training. I’ve already noticed a massive difference in my cardio fitness, so next stop is to get a squat bum.
Feel confident with how I look
I’ve decided to replace my usual ‘BE SKINNY’ with a more positive approach. I do want to lose weight, but I also don’t want to rely on my size/ weight to look in the mirror and be all ‘damn girl’. I don’t want to look back in ten years and think how long I wasted unhappy with my appearance, or look back at pictures and wonder why I wasn’t happy with myself back then!
Make an actual decision about my hair
I’ve had the same generic hair for so long, and I’ve been so bored with it for so long, but too scared to do anything about it. I WILL decide on something in 2015, whether it’s blonder, shorter, blunter or what, something will happen.
Become an amazing photographer
Okay, so maybe not amazing, but I will become a better photographer. I’ve asked for a better lens off my dad for Christmas, and a daylight bulb and some blog photo accessories off everyone else so hopefully by 2016, I will be my own blog photo inspiration.
Learn a new skill
Now that I’m out of education, I think t’s important to make sure I keep on learning new skills. I’ve booked on to a beginners Italian class, and I’ve bought a vegetarian recipe book that I’m going to work my way through to get some new cooking skills. I might even finally learn how to bake! Sure, none of these are exactly hard core skills but along with running and photography, I think that’s enough for now.
Live a tad more frugally
I’m in no way talking about using reusable toilet roll or anything a bit out there, but things like actually remembering to use Top Cash Back and check for voucher codes before I pay for something, and I do want to get a bit more DIY savvy. And I should probably replace my Topshop sprees with charity shops once in a while if you know what I mean.
I think that’s it really, apart from to find a really nice house to rent so I can have a nice house. I’m so fed up of living in crappy student houses, give me white walls and laminate flooring any day please!
Will you be making any resolutions this year?
