I am, what some might say, well endowed in the chest compartment. You probably wouldn’t believe it at first glance, but I am a 30FF. It’s the bane of my life if I’m honest, and if I ever win the lottery I will be getting these bad boys reduced to a happy C. Until then, I must find good bra support. ESPECIALLY for exercising, because without a good sports bra I would get hit in the face by my bossom. I’d love to wear those cute Nike sports bras that are so well flaunted on Instagram, but I can’t.
It’s impossible to take a nice picture of a bra, especially a sports bra for big boobs. So here’s a close up of the logo instead.
I remember, back in the day before I really knew how to cope with big boobs, my sports bra was basically a normal bra, covered by a cheap sports bra, in an attempt to keep the girls at bay. It didn’t work. Surprisingly. Nowadays, my sports bra of choice is Shock Absorber. I have three currently, one which I bought but is so old I really need to bin it, one which I bought (to replace my old one), and one which I was kindly sent.
The two I have, that don’t need binning, are the D+ Max Sports Bra and Active D+ Classic*. Both are aimed for D+ boobs, and as such have three bra hooks and built in support.
My D+ Max Sports Bra is wireless, but is clever compartmented to firmly lock in my boobs during a workout. It’s so comfortable it is unreal, and the fabric is designed to wick the sweat away from your body, letting it breathe. Or more correctly, letting air flow through as skin does not breathe. The bra straps are wide which is more comfortable and gives a lot more support than those cute, teensie straps on pretty little Nike sports bra. Sob.
The Active D+ Classic* is wired and the cup material itself is tailored to give a more compact, rounded look and strap you in a bit more. If I’m totally honest, I would say it’s more suited for those who’s big boobs are of the fake variety, because squishing natural boobs into a smaller place can be a bit, well, squishy. That being said, it does provide the support I need and is perfectly adequate as a gym bra, if just a tiny bit less comfortable than my other one.
I truly believe that Shock Absorbers have changed my life in the sports + boob department, and I’d definitely recommend them if you’re over a D and like to jump around to burn calories or tone up a few times a week, however I’d personally advice going up a back size as they’re a little on the tighter side.
I can image that they’d be just as great for any of you smaller cup gals out there, but if you don’t need as much support it’s probably not worth paying out the £30 – £40 for when a cheaper sports bra could provide just as good support for what you need!
