Lush is one of those shops I love, but never go in. It’s mainly because the assistants in there scare me, I like shopping in peace but it’s like the Lush law that you need to be asked if you’re okay every three seconds. I finally plucked up the courage to go in a few days before my graduation, because I knew my graduation would involve alcohol and I know that makes me break out. After dodging assistants left, right and centre, I decided on Catastrophe Cosmetic because essentially, I wanted something to calm my skin. I instagrammed a picture of it and had a few positive responses, so clearly I chose well!
This mask reminds me of calamine lotion. Which, I realised after reading the ingredients is because it has it in. But still. It’s that soft clay with water texture, and it has a few gritty bitty things in there. It’s pretty minging to put on, because you have to mix the watery bit with the clay bit, and then spread it on your face and it gets caught in your nails. It doesn’t drip off though, which is good, and it dries in about 10 minutes, which is how long you’re meant to leave it on but mine stays on for a good hour out of laziness.
I’ll be honest, I’ve not really noticed any improvement from using this mask. Maybe at a push, my spots were slightly less red? But I’m just grabbing at straws really. And, it only had three weeks date to use it up in. Who does that many face masks? I did three and barely made a dent. Can you freeze Lush masks? Who knows.
As much as I wanted to love this (let’s face it, I bought it didn’t I?), I just am not impressed. I basically paid £2 per face mask which did not do anything noticeable or remarkable to my face. I think it would be a good face mask if you have sensitive skin and can’t use many face masks, but I personally wouldn’t buy it again. It’s my own fault really, I’m more of a fan of those clay face masks that bring everything to the surface, and it’s gross but also really good. I like putting my skin though extremes when it comes to masks and scrubs so this just wasn’t anything special for me.
