Sample Sunday #16

Hello lovelies, I hope you’re all well? Today’s sample is actually from The Body Shop, in the form of their Vitamin C Microdermabrasion. One of the guys who worked there was saying how amazing it was, and I am partial to a rough exfoliator, but I was already buying a lot of stuff (see here) so asked for a sample instead. I’ve tried Skin Doctor’s Powerbrasion (read more about it here) which is a similar concept and I really like the product so I was very interested to see how The Body Shop’s version compared.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion

The Vitamin C Microdermabrasion is a weekly exfoliating treatment, designed to remove dead skin and leave skin softer, brighter and smoother. First off, I really like the smell of this. It’s citrusy, although it doesn’t smell of limes, oranges or lemons so I’m not sure how! The formula is paste like, and you only need a tiny bit as it disperses into tiny beads. Extremely rough beads, I might add. I can see why it’s a once a week treatment! I actually love the feeling of having my skin rubbed off, but it’s probably best to steer clear if you have sensitive skin, I would imagine!

Immediately after using, my skin was pretty red but I expected that! I had a few clumps of dry skin from old spot-scabs, and the scrub helped to clear them away (leaving nice little scars, obviously) which is fab as I hate dry skin with a passion. Once the redness had faded, which only took a minute or two, I found my skin looked a lot less dull, and a lot smoother and brighter. It also took my Vitamin E serum in oil (also a la Body Shop) a lot better than usual, which to me proves that my dead skin had been lifted.

I actually think this is quite similar to Benefit Refined Finish Facial Polish which I tried out in a previous Sample Sunday. Both have the same gritty beads which leaves the skin looking clear and healthy, although I would say that The Body Shop is a bit harsher/ more exfoliating. Benefit actually turns out to be more value for money (say whaa!?) at £18.50 for 150ml, with The Body Shop retailing at £14 for 75ml. The smaller sizes always get you!

I do like the Vitamin C Microdermabrasion, and although it is pricey for the size, it would last a really long time thanks to the small amount needed each use, and the one use a week. If you have congested or dull skin, it’s worth getting a sample yourself and seeing what you think!

You can by The Body Shop Microdermabrasion here if you fancy it.
